Earth May Face Imminent Threat as NASA Witnesses Giant Solar Flare.
NASA recently captured a big part of the Sun breaking off from its North Pole in an unusual event. The video was captured with the help of James Webb telescope. Scientists think this may be due to the Sun's magnetic field reversing, which happens due to Solar cycle.
You may wonder what is Solar cycle?
Solar cycle also known as Solar Activity cycle is characterized by changes in the number of sunspots and variations in the Sun's magnetic field. After two cycles, the magnetic field returns to its original position.
" Talk about Polar Vortex! Material from a northern prominence just broke away from the main filament & is now circulating in a massive polar vortex around the north pole of our Star. Implications for understanding the Sun's atmospheric dynamics above 55° here cannot be overstated!"
Experts also speculate that the cause could be linked to the reversal of the Sun's magnetic field. However, the exact reason remains uncertain due to the limited visibility of the sun.
